(1) As part of the investment manager’s analysis, research analysts seek to assess the risks presented by certain environmental, social and governance factors. While these particular risks are considered, securities of issuers presenting such risks may be purchased and retained by the fund.
(2) The portfolio’s investment process focuses on the sustainability and direction of a company’s long-term returns on capital. Environmental, social and governance (ESG) considerations are a fundamental and integrated part of this process, as the sub-adviser believes material weaknesses in any of the ESG areas can potentially threaten the long-term sustainability of a company’s returns on capital.
